Baltimore/DC Clemson Club – Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens Volunteer Day

Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens Volunteer Day
Saturday, April 7, 9:00am – 12:00pm

How does Mount Vernon get ready for the spring? With volunteer help from our Clemson Family, of course! Volunteers are invited to help groom the estate’s surrounding forest areas helping them appear as they did in the 18th century. Adults and children are welcome, and lunch is included.

All guests will receive one complimentary admission ticket to tour the estate. The tour pass will be valid for use on any day, not just the volunteer day.

In addition to volunteering, you will also hear stories about the historic property from Board Member Dean Norton ’77, Director of Horticulture at Mount Vernon. He will share behind the scenes details about the estate that are not part of the typical ‘public’ tour. This is certainly a unique and fun way to see this beautiful monument and give back to our community at the same time.

Please note:
– Consider wearing long pants, work gloves and sneakers/work shoes comfortable for moving around wooded and uneven terrain
– Volunteers are welcome to bring water bottles and/or snacks
– Depending on the weather, bring and/or wear sunscreen, bug spray, hats, sunglasse
– Park in the general guest parking lot and meet the Clemson volunteer in front of the Mount Vernon Inn and Restaurant (to the right of the main estate entrance)

Registration is free for members, their children and one non-member guest.  For all other non-members, registration is $10. Register at http://www.clemsonclub.org/mt-vernon-volunteer-cleanup/.

Baltimore/DC Clemson Club – Belgian Salon at the Residence of the Ambassador of Belgium-SOLD OUT

Belgian Salon at the Residence of the Ambassador of Belgium
Tuesday, February 27, 6:00-8:00pm

Ambassador Dirk Wouters and Mrs. Katrin Wouters are honored to invite Clemson alumni, parents and guests to a Belgian Salon! This special evening will take place at the Ambassador of Belgium’s residence, which is a stunning 26,000-square foot two-story mansion overlooking the Potomac River. The reception will feature remarks from Ambassador Wouters, a keynote address from Congressman Jeff Duncan ‘88, and a Q&A session. The evening would not be complete without Belgian beer, hors d’oeuvres and sweet treats.

We are always pleased to celebrate the connection between Clemson University and Belgium as our university’s founder, Thomas Green Clemson, was the chargé d’affaires of the United States to Belgium from 1844-1851. This exclusive event will surely be a night to remember!

This event is SOLD OUT and registration is now closed.  Please email Rachael at rachael@clemsonclub.org to be added to the wait list.

Questions? Contact Rachael Wiker at rachael@clemsonclub.org.
