Jessica “Jessie” Egan ’19

Jessica “Jessie” Egan of Lexington, S.C., has a 2019 Clemson bachelor’s Jessica “Jessie” Egan smiling with a forest backgrounddegree in environmental and natural resources. As a student, she worked as an intern in the Clemson office of the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), where she assisted with regional programming and demonstrated her passion for educating the public about the state’s natural resources. Upon graduation, she accepted a full-time administrative assistant position.

In 2021, she moved to Lexington to serve as SCDNR’s statewide social media manager. She transformed the agency’s social media platforms into a powerful educational tool, leading to her accepting a newly created area coordinator position supporting 23 soil and water conservation districts in 2023. Her success in enhancing conservation efforts and awareness was instrumental in securing funding from the S.C. General Assembly for additional area coordinators and then a program development coordinator position, to which she was promoted in 2025.

Jessie is engaged in numerous community and nature-related organizations, ranging from SC Adopt-A-Stream to the Girl Scouts. She continuously promotes the National Deer Association and Ducks Unlimited to support local conservation projects. Through the S.C. Waterfowl Association, she worked as a shooting sports instructor for youth, especially young girls. A longtime member of Future Farmers of America, she is active with Project Learning Tree and Green Steps Schools.

She serves as a speaker, mentor and role model for high school students who attend the S.C. Commissioner’s School of Agriculture, a career and leadership development summer program held at Clemson in partnership with the S.C. Department of Agriculture. In recognition of her service to Clemson’s College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences, Jessie received the 2025 CAFLS Young Alumni Award.
