Clemson Alumni Association Names Nancy S. Garrison Honorary Alumna

The Clemson Alumni Association has named Nancy S. Garrison of Cypress, Texas, an Honorary Alumna of Clemson University.

Although not a graduate of Clemson, Garrison has demonstrated an extraordinary and lifelong devotion to the University through her volunteer leadership, philanthropic support, and unwavering commitment to Clemson students and alumni.

For more than four decades, Garrison has embraced the Clemson spirit alongside her husband, Dan Garrison (’72), becoming an integral member of the Clemson family. Together, the Garrisons have helped shape the future of Clemson through transformational support of both academics and athletics. As Clemson’s inaugural Cornerstone Partners for both Athletics and Academics, and now three-time Cornerstone Partners, their contributions have created lasting opportunities for generations of students.

Garrison’s influence extends far beyond philanthropy. A devoted volunteer, she is a highly respected participant with the ONE Clemson Board, dedicating countless hours to fundraising efforts that support Clemson student-athletes. Known for her willingness to tackle any task, Garrison consistently arrives early and stays late, helping coordinate events, recruit sponsors, secure auction items, and support fundraising initiatives. Through the efforts of volunteers like Garrison, ONE Clemson has raised more than $275,000 and funded 111 internships for Clemson student-athletes.

In addition to her service with ONE Clemson, Garrison has worked alongside her husband on the Committee on Philanthropy for Clemson’s Fiercely Forward campaign. She has also invested personally in student success, serving as a mentor and supporter of student-athletes as they prepare for careers beyond Clemson.

“Nancy embodies the very best of Clemson’s values,” said Clemson Alumni Association CEO Wil Brasington. “Her selfless leadership, generous spirit, and steadfast commitment to our students and University have made a tremendous impact. Although she did not attend Clemson as a student, she has lived the Clemson experience through a lifetime of service, and we are honored to recognize her as an Honorary Alumna.”

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Garrison has instilled the values of service, loyalty, and excellence in her family. Through her example, she has inspired family members and fellow volunteers alike to become engaged supporters of Clemson.

“Nancy’s love for Clemson is evident in everything she does,” said one nominator. “Whether she is mentoring students, volunteering at events, supporting fundraising initiatives, or encouraging the next generation of Tigers, she gives her time and energy with humility, grace, and enthusiasm. She truly bleeds orange.”

Garrison and her husband are longtime supporters of Clemson University through initiatives including ONE Clemson, IPTAY, the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business, the Sales Innovation Program, student scholarships, and leadership development programs. Her dedication to expanding educational opportunities and enhancing the student experience has left a lasting mark on the University community.

The Clemson Alumni Association recognized Garrison as an Honorary Alumna in front of her family and friends during a Clemson game day celebration. The award was presented to her by Clemson Alumni Association CEO, Wil Brasington, while surrounded by her family and friends.

The Honorary Alumnus/a designation is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to Clemson University despite not having attended the institution. Garrison’s remarkable commitment, generosity, and lifelong support of Clemson make her a deserving recipient of this distinguished honor.
