Charlotte Cobb receiving the Volunteer of the Year award

Marietta’s Charlotte Cobb named Clemson Alumni Association’s Volunteer of the Year

CLEMSON, South Carolina — The staff of the Clemson Alumni Association has selected Charlotte Underwood Cobb of Marietta, Georgia, to receive the 2017 Frank Kellers III Volunteer of the Year award. The award recognizes a Clemson University alumnus for outstanding volunteerism and service to the university.

The Clemson Alumni Association chose Cobb for her role in reviving, growing and re-energizing the Atlanta Clemson Club. Her leadership in increasing the number of events and locations around the Metro Atlanta area has improved accessibility and offered more opportunities to a broader range of alumni.

Cobb has also volunteered extensively for nonprofit organizations in the Atlanta community. She has worked with the Special Olympics of Georgia, Toys for Tots, the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research and Ronald McDonald House Charities (in both Atlanta and Australia).

The daughter of Charlie and Cam Underwood, Cobb was born and raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She graduated from Clemson University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in early childhood education. She is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Cobb has worked in event planning for The Coca-Cola Company, based in Atlanta and Sydney, Australia. As a global events manager for The Coca-Cola Company, she has had various roles in planning and executing the company’s global hospitality program for five Olympic games, three FIFA World Cups and two Rugby World Cups. Cobb now owns and runs her own company, 7C’s Event Management. In 2001, she married Stephen Cobb and she has two stepchildren, Cassandra and Sam.

The Clemson Alumni Association has presented the Frank Kellers III Volunteer of the Year Award annually since 1988 to show recognition and appreciation to individuals who have a passion for service and building the Clemson family. The award is named for Frank Kellers III, a member of Clemson’s Class of 1957.

The Clemson Alumni Association, an open-membership, nonprofit organization since its inception in 1896, connects members of the 150,000-strong Clemson Family, inspiring pride, celebrating achievement, providing service and strengthening relationships with Clemson University and with each other.
