Katherine Shafer Named to Clemson Alumni Association Board of Directors

The Clemson Alumni Association has named Katherine Sloan Shafer of Greenville, South Carolina, to its Board of Directors.

Shafer earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Kat Shafer '02, M'06Clemson University in 2002 and her MBA in 2006. A standout student-athlete, she was Clemson Rowing’s first All-Conference selection and first Academic All-American, and she graduated cum laude as a scholarship recipient.

Professionally, Shafer serves as President of EP+Co, a nationally recognized advertising agency headquartered in Greenville. Over her two-decade career with the firm, she has held key leadership roles including Chief Client Officer and Chief Growth Officer, helping drive strategic expansion, client retention, and organizational development. Her experience spans marketing, operations, financial strategy, and team leadership.

Shafer is actively involved in professional and civic organizations, including serving on the boards of the 4As Carolinas Council and Southern Region, and participating in the Greenville Chamber of Commerce. She also volunteers with the Millburn Recreation Department, Greenville Little League, and local PTO boards.

After spending the last 16 years in the New York metro area, her return to South Carolina and appointment as EP+Co’s President has reignited her desire to give back to her alma mater. With her extensive background in marketing and leadership, Shafer brings a fresh perspective and deep commitment to the Clemson community.

On her appointment to the Clemson Alumni Association board, Shafer stated, “My Clemson journey started more than 25 years ago, but the impact it’s had on me continues to shape who I am – as a professional, a person and a loyal Tiger. Serving on the Alumni board is my way of giving back and helping support the University and its community.”

The alumni board has 22 members and is the governing body for the Clemson Alumni Association. Primary responsibilities of the board include general oversight of the programs and initiatives of the association, financial audit and review, the establishment of governing policies and strategic planning.
