Marque Delvon Macon — Health Care Administrator

The Clemson Alumni Association has named Marque Macon of Charlotte, North Carolina, to its board of directors. His term began July 1.

Macon earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering at Clemson University in 2010 and later received his MBA from Loyola University Chicago in 2015.

While studying at Clemson, Macon contributed to many organizations. He was a resident assistant and participated in the Student Senate. He was involved in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., serving as vice president. His Greek involvement didn’t end there; he was president of the Greek Programming Board and a Gamma Sigma Alpha Greek Honor Society member.

Since graduation, Macon has remained an active alumnus. He is a Charlotte Clemson Club member and a Clemson University Foundation donor. He remains involved in the Charlotte alumni chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., previously serving as financial secretary and director of educational activities. Within the Clemson Alumni Association, he works on the Clemson Alumni Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Clemson Black Alumni Council. He has also volunteered his time for the Tigertown Bound event in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Professionally, Macon serves the National Association of Health Services Executives as the current president for the North Carolina Chapter. He is also a committee member of the North Carolina Healthcare Association and National Black MBA Association. Additionally, he was a past president of the Greater Charlotte Healthcare Executives Group, an independent chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Macon works at Atrium Health, an integrated nonprofit health system with more than 70,000 teammates, serving patients at 40 hospitals at more than 1,400 care locations. He was recently named as one of the 75 Black health care leaders to know by Becker’s Healthcare as well as one of Charlotte Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2020. Around election time, he volunteers as a poll worker in Mecklenburg County.

“My experience as an undergraduate student at Clemson made a significant impact to both my career and personal development and continues to shape who I am today,” said Macon. “I remain connected to fellow alumni and seek out opportunities to give back to an institution that has provided so much to me.”

The alumni board has 22 members and is the governing body for the Clemson Alumni Association.
