My Father’s Ring
My father was a Class of 1936 graduate who wore his Clemson ring during World War II in the Philippines. About the time the Army began sending WACs (Women’s Army Corps) into the war zone, my mother decided it would be a good idea to send him a wedding ring. He dutifully wore the wedding ring and put his Clemson ring in his foot locker where it was subsequently stolen. They were married for 64 years until her death in 2003. But until he died in 2006, he always blamed my mother for the loss of his Clemson ring.
