Honoring Clemson’s Fallen – December 7
Throughout the past decade, our Baltimore/DC Clemson Club has been involved in many wreath laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery. It has been an honor to recognize the many souls who gave their life’s full measure for our country.
This year, we are planning a dedicated event on Saturday, December 7 from 11:00am-2:00pm to specifically recognize the Clemson fallen as we have been able to learn the stories and history of our beloved alumni to include their lives and service. During this day of remembrance, we will commit a moment of reflection and prayer at the graves of each of our fallen alumni. Additionally, we will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in honor of all Clemson alumni who have sacrificed so much for our great nation.
The chosen date of December 7 is significant for several reasons. It’s the date upon which our nation was attacked in 1941 and thereafter entered World War II where so many Clemson alumni served and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we hold so dear. It also marks the 20th anniversary of when Captain Mark Stubenhofer, U.S. Army, and a Springfield, VA native, laid down his life in defense and preservation of the ideals engraved in the heart of this remarkable nation. Captain Stubenhofer is Clemson’s most recent interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
We invite our Clemson friends and family to join us for this special and solemn ceremony. As Americans and Tigers, we are proud that so many Clemson men and women have committed to serve and many made the ultimate sacrifice. Please join us on December 7 to recognize those who gave so much.
This special event is free to attend, but space is very limited. Clemson Club dues-paying members will receive priority registration. Please register here.
