Clemson Athletics Public Address Announcer Dale Gilbert Named Honorary Alumnus
The Clemson Alumni Association proudly announces Dale Gilbert as a 2025 Honorary Alumnus, recognizing his decades of unwavering dedication, service, and passion for Clemson University.
Although not a graduate of Clemson, Gilbert has become an integral part of the Clemson Family through 31 years of service as the iconic public address announcer for Clemson Football and 30 years for Men’s Basketball. His distinctive voice has echoed through Memorial Stadium and Littlejohn Coliseum, becoming synonymous with the Clemson game day experience for generations of fans.
Gilbert, a retired meteorologist from WYFF in Greenville, SC, has consistently used his platform to promote Clemson University with professionalism and pride. Whether behind the microphone on game day or on television, he has embodied the Clemson spirit with grace, humility, and enthusiasm.
“Dale has truly adopted Clemson as his school and his team,” said Mike Money, Associate Athletic Director and nominator. “He’s volunteered his time, lent his voice to countless events, and always represented Clemson with class. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and a true ambassador for the University.”
In addition to his announcing duties, Gilbert has served as a master of ceremonies for numerous university events, recorded voiceovers for Clemson Athletics and the Alumni Association, and supported the university as a loyal IPTAY donor for nearly two decades. His three daughters and son, Stefanie, Jessica, Alison and Michael, are all Clemson graduates, further deepening his family’s ties to the university.
“Dale Gilbert has been the voice of the Tigers for nearly three decades, and his impact on the Clemson experience is immeasurable,” said Wil Brasington, CEO of the Clemson Alumni Association. “His professionalism, warmth, and unwavering loyalty have made him a beloved figure in our community. We are proud to officially welcome him into the Clemson Family as an Honorary Alumnus.”
