Bo Gossett Named Honorary Alumnus

The Clemson Alumni Association recognized A.C. “Bo” Gossett III of Greenville with the designation Bo Gossett Named Honorary Alumnusof Honorary Alumnus of Clemson University. The Honorary Alumnus/a designation is a special recognition reserved for unwavering supporters of Clemson whose passion for the university is undeniable, even though they never officially attended Clemson.

Gossett is the president and owner of Gossett Concrete Pipe Co (GCPC), a third-generation reinforced concrete company founded in 1944. GCPC manufactures reinforced concrete pipe, box culverts, and concrete products for public highway road work, commercial sites, and private underground drainage infrastructure. During his tenure, Gossett has led the company to become the largest in its industry in South Carolina and the largest distributor in the Southeast.

Named one of Greenville’s “50 Most Influential,” Gossett has dedicated his career to improving the lives of the community through his ongoing commitment to quality products. The father of Clemson graduate Janie Gossett Marchbanks ’05, Gossett has focused his impact on Clemson University by supporting and advocating for its students. He was the first Cornerstone Partner for Student Affairs, directing this attention toward the university’s strategic plan to create the number one student experience. He serves on the Executive Council for the Vice President of Student Affairs and is a member of the Fiercely Forward Campaign Cabinet for the Division of Student Affairs.

Former Vice President for Student Affairs Chris Miller, stated, “Through his active participation in Student Affairs and Clemson University, Bo has demonstrated a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of our students. His insights and contribution in identifying and addressing barriers that hinder student success and well-being have been critical.”

Gossett’s commitment to community extends throughout the Upstate, including chairing the fundraising committee for the Cancer Survivors Park in Greenville, volunteering for and supporting the Meyers Center and the Taylors Free Medical Clinic, and serving on the Executive Board for the Boy Scouts of America. He also fundraised for and supported the development of Greenville’s Unity Park.

Wil Brasington, the CEO of the Clemson Alumni Association (CAA), expressed his appreciation for Gossett’s dedication to Clemson: “Bo has loved Clemson as if it were his own alma mater throughout his entire life. Through his support and generosity, our university can continue to impact future generations of Tigers and create a student experience like no other across the country.”

The Honorary Alumnus designation was personally presented to Gossett in Clemson, by Clemson Alumni Association (CAA) CEO, Wil Brasington, Deb Conklin, Chair of the CAA Board of Directors; Clemson University President Jim Clements; and Vice President for Advancement, Brian O’Rourke among others.

Honorary alumni are carefully selected by the Alumni Association board of directors based on their exceptional service, lifelong devotion, and unwavering loyalty to Clemson University or the Clemson Alumni Association.
