Shavonne Nicole Brown of Baltimore named to Alumni Association Board

The Clemson Alumni Association has named Shavonne Nicole Brown of Baltimore, M.D. to its board of directors. Her term will begin July 1.

Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Clemson University in 2005. She currently serves as the program specialist for the Mental Health Clinical Center for the Veterans Military Healthcare System in Baltimore.

As a student, Brown was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, serving as president 2004-2005, and the Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority. She also participated in the following organizations at Clemson University: Minority Student Leaders, Tiger Band, Concert Band, the Minority Council, the Martin Luther King Enhancement Committee and the Parking Services Judicial Hearing Board.

She currently volunteers for the Baltimore Symphony Associates and is a member of the Baltimore/DC Clemson Club, Clemson Black Alumni Council (CBAC) and Clemson University Tiger Band Association (CUTBA). She is also a donor to Clemson University through the Anna Maria Calhoun Scholarship Endowment, the Anna Maria Calhoun Memorial Fund, the Harvey B. Gantt Scholarship Endowment, the Clemson Corps Scroll of Honor, among others.

The alumni board has 22 members and is the governing body for the Clemson Alumni Association. Primary responsibilities of the board include general oversight of the programs and initiatives of the association, financial audit and review, the establishment of governing policies and strategic planning.
