Brian Cave Named Clemson Alumni Association’s Volunteer of the Year
The Clemson Alumni Association has selected J. Brian Cave to receive the 2019 Frank Kellers III Volunteer of the Year Award. The award recognizes a Clemson University alumnus for outstanding volunteerism and service to the university.
The Clemson Alumni Association chose Cave for his extensive support of the alumni association and the university along with his unwavering advocacy for initiatives promoting Clemson.
A Charleston, SC native, Cave graduated from Clemson University in 1997 with a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management. While a student at Clemson he was involved with the Presbyterian Student Association and Lambda. In 2006, he received a Master of Arts in Theology from Union Theological Seminary in the city of New York.
Cave is an accomplished professional in the areas of human resources, operations, project management, and event planning & management, working with non-profits, small companies and international corporations based in Charlotte, NC, New York, NY, Austin, TX, and London, UK. He currently works in New York City as the Senior Manager of Operations for Issey Miyake USA Corp., the USA division of Issey Miyake International headquartered in Tokyo.
Cave was one of the founding members of the Clemson LGBTQ+ Alumni Council (formerly known as CASE) and has served on the board for many years. Brian is also on the Board of the New York City & Tri-State Area Clemson Club as the Secretary and Co-Chair of the Membership, Networking & Fundraising Committee. He currently lives in Union, NJ with his husband of 15 years and their three rescued dogs.
The Clemson Alumni Association has presented the Frank Kellers III Volunteer of the Year Award annually since 1988 to show recognition and appreciation to individuals who have a passion for service and building the Clemson family. The award is named for Frank Kellers III, a member of Clemson’s Class of 1957.
