Tailgating Lost and Found

In the fall of 2006 I was tailgating with family and friends before the Georgia Tech football game. We were grilling out by some trees in the area below Shotgun Alley. It was not until later that night that I realized I had lost my Clemson class ring. The next day I sent our daughter, then a sophomore at Clemson, to search under the trees among all the leaves for my ring. Unfortunately, she did not find it. At the end of the season, we were tailgating near the same spot with some Carolina friends before the big game. All of a sudden someone called out my name, my maiden name — I knew immediately that my ring had been found! A family from Georgia, Clemson grads, had been walking with their two daughters before the game when one of them spotted my ring in the leaves. I could not believe it; neither could my family and friends. I took the little girl’s name and address and mailed her a reward. I also sent two small stuffed tigers for her and her little sister. Even though I was without my 1980 ring only two months, I was truly devastated to have lost it and thrilled to have it returned!
