Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens Volunteer Day
Saturday, April 7, 9:00am – 12:00pm
How does Mount Vernon get ready for the spring? With volunteer help from our Clemson Family, of course! Volunteers are invited to help groom the estate’s surrounding forest areas helping them appear as they did in the 18th century. Adults and children are welcome, and lunch is included.
All guests will receive one complimentary admission ticket to tour the estate. The tour pass will be valid for use on any day, not just the volunteer day.
In addition to volunteering, you will also hear stories about the historic property from Board Member Dean Norton ’77, Director of Horticulture at Mount Vernon. He will share behind the scenes details about the estate that are not part of the typical ‘public’ tour. This is certainly a unique and fun way to see this beautiful monument and give back to our community at the same time.
– Consider wearing long pants, work gloves and sneakers/work shoes comfortable for moving around wooded and uneven terrain
– Volunteers are welcome to bring water bottles and/or snacks
– Depending on the weather, bring and/or wear sunscreen, bug spray, hats, sunglasse
– Park in the general guest parking lot and meet the Clemson volunteer in front of the Mount Vernon Inn and Restaurant (to the right of the main estate entrance)
RSVP to email@example.com with your name, class year (if parent, provide student’s name and class year), email address and the number of people who will volunteer with your group/family.
